What's On Dronfield — Business terms
Who we are
What's On Dronfield is a trading name of GAGE SPORTING SERVICES LTD ("we", "us"), a company registered in England and Wales, company no. 16585275. Registered office: 5 Westbrook Court, Sharrow Vale Road, Sheffield, S11 8YZ. Contact: info@whatsondronfield.co.uk, or the contact form on the site.
These terms are between us and the business, club or organisation you look after on What's On Dronfield ("your business"). You agree to them for your business when you claim or add it. Our terms of use and privacy policy apply to you as a person as well.
Claiming a business listing
- Only claim a business you run, or one you have the owner's permission to look after. We trust you: there's no check at the time. If we find a claim is false, or someone shows us it is, we remove it, and we may stop that account claiming again.
- Adding a business that isn't listed works the same way. Add only a real business or activity, under its real name.
- Business, Organiser or Community. A Business is a shop, pub, trade or service: its page shows your phone, WhatsApp and website. An Organiser runs classes or sessions themselves: residents reach them by message through the app, and the page shows no phone or address. Community is for a registered charity, a church or place of worship, a school or the council: it has everything a Business has, free. If we haven't already marked yours as a community organisation, you start as an Organiser while we check. You choose when you claim, and we can change it if it's clearly wrong.
- One page per business. If the same business is listed twice, tell us and we'll merge them.
- If someone else has already claimed your business, tell us through the contact form. Only we can move a claim.
- Everyone you add to run your business must keep to these terms too. You're responsible for what they do on What's On Dronfield.
What you put on What's On Dronfield
This covers your page, your photos and videos, your events, your jobs, and anything you send us through the upload box.
- Be accurate and honest about what you offer, where, when and for how much. Keep your details up to date, and mark events cancelled and jobs filled.
- Your page, events and jobs go up as soon as you publish them, and an event or job read from a poster you send goes up on our reading of it. You're responsible for checking them.
- Only use photos, videos and words you have the right to use. No photos of other people's premises or work passed off as yours.
- Photos showing children are allowed only with their parents' consent, and that's your responsibility. We remove any photo of a child if we're asked to.
- Nothing unlawful, misleading, hateful or explicit, nothing that infringes anyone's rights, and nothing on the list of content not allowed in our terms of use. Children browse What's On Dronfield, so that list includes anything sexual, violent or harmful to children.
- No fake or paid-for reviews or testimonials. Don't put on your page a review, rating or quote that isn't genuine, or that you paid or rewarded someone for, or hide that it was.
- You let us use what you put on What's On Dronfield to run it: to show it on the site and in the app, in our emails and newsletter, and in posts that share our listings; to resize, crop or reformat it to fit; and to keep a copy for as long as your page or the event or job is on the site and for our records after. You still own it. This ends when you take it down, except for copies already sent in an email or shared.
- We may change or remove anything that breaks these terms, or hide a business listing, an event or a job. If we do, we'll tell you why, unless that would put someone at risk or the law stops us. Some things the law makes us remove quickly — an intimate image shared without consent within 48 hours — and we will, before asking you.
- If someone tells us something on your page is defamatory, we'll normally pass their complaint to you by email and give you 5 days to answer before we decide what to do. If you don't answer, or we can't reach you, we may take it down.
Menus and price lists
- Your prices are yours to keep right. The items, prices and words on your menus and price lists are your own. Show prices including VAT and any charge every customer has to pay, and don't mislead.
- We show when you last confirmed each one, and ask you every six months whether it is still right. Saying "Yes, it's still right" means you have checked it.
- A menu we read from a picture you send is a draft until you publish it. Check it against your picture first: once you publish it, it's yours as if you had typed it.
- We may take down a list, or part of one, that is wrong, misleading or breaks these terms, as with anything else on your page.
- We never sort or compare businesses by price.
Jobs you post
- The job must be real, at your business, and open. Mark it filled when it is.
- It must not discriminate. Don't say you want someone of a particular age, sex, race, religion, disability or any other protected characteristic, unless the law allows it for that job, and then say why. Ask for "the right to work in the UK", never a nationality.
- Pay at least the National Minimum Wage or National Living Wage for any work that needs it, don't advertise unpaid work that should be paid, and call a genuinely voluntary role voluntary.
- By posting a job, you confirm the advert is lawful, including under the Equality Act 2010. We rely on that.
- Never charge anyone to apply or to be considered, and never ask for bank details before you've offered them the job.
- You're the employer. We only show the advert. We don't check applicants, take part in hiring, or act as an employment agency.
Messages from residents
Residents can message your business through What's On Dronfield. By claiming your business listing you agree to:
- Reply honestly, as the business, about what you offer. Don't pretend to be someone else.
- Never ask for payment outside a proper booking or invoice. Don't ask for bank details, card numbers or money transfers in a message. Scams are the likeliest harm on a service like this, and we remove claims that do it.
- Don't market to people who message you. Use what a resident tells you only to answer them. Don't add their details to a mailing list, or pass them on.
- Don't copy messages elsewhere except to deal with the enquiry, for example into your own booking system.
- Keep residents' details safe. Everyone who runs your business on What's On Dronfield can read your business's messages. Only add people you trust, and remove anyone who leaves.
What we can see and do. What's On Dronfield can read any conversation to keep people safe and deal with reports. We only read messages when someone reports a problem or we're looking into abuse. If a resident reports you, we may close the conversation, stop you sending messages, or remove your claim to your business listing. You can report or block a resident too, from any conversation. We look at every report within 3 working days.
Organisers are reached only by message: your business listing shows no phone or website. Messaging is free for you, always.
A Business or a Community business listing can switch messaging off in its business area. Its page then says it has turned off messages here. Conversations already open carry on until they end.
If your business stops paying (after the founding period), residents can no longer start conversations with it. Conversations already open are put away until you pay again, and the residents in them are shown your phone number. We'll remind you before your end date, so you can answer anything open.
Residents' details
What's On Dronfield is responsible, under data protection law, for the personal details it holds. When a resident gives your business their details — in a message, or by applying for a job — your business becomes responsible for them separately from us, as a controller under UK data protection law, and must use them lawfully, keep them safe and use them only for the reason they were given. Tell us straight away if you think residents' details have been seen by someone who shouldn't have them.
Your numbers and our emails
We count how many people view your page, find you in the directory and tap to call, message or visit your website, and show you the totals. We never show you who.
We email the people who run your business about it: messages waiting, events coming up, things waiting for your answer, a job about to close. You can turn off the ones that aren't essential on Account → Emails.
Paying
- Everything is free until 31 January 2027 (the founding period).
- After that, a Business can pay a flat fee to keep the paid features. Organisers and Community business listings stay free, and every business keeps a free business listing, with its phone number, whether it pays or not.
- We never charge you without asking. You only pay if you choose to, and we'll write to you at least 30 days before the founding period ends to say what changes and what it costs.
- Card details are only ever typed into Stripe's own page, never ours.
- Adverts and partnerships are agreed separately, in writing, for each booking. An advert must be legal, decent, honest and truthful and follow the UK advertising codes (the CAP Code); we label every advert as one, and we may refuse or withdraw an advert that doesn't. We don't show adverts for alcohol, gambling or anything only for adults beside events for children.
Our responsibility to you
- We run What's On Dronfield with reasonable care and skill, but we can't promise it will always be available, error-free, or bring you any number of customers.
- We aren't responsible for loss of profit, revenue, business or goodwill, or for any loss that wasn't a foreseeable result of us breaking these terms.
- While What's On Dronfield is free to you, our total responsibility to your business under these terms is limited to £100. Once you pay us, it is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or £100 if that is more.
- Nothing in these terms limits our responsibility for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law doesn't allow us to limit. If you are a consumer, rather than a business, nothing in them takes away your legal rights.
Your responsibility to us
If someone makes a claim against us because of something your business put on What's On Dronfield — a photo you didn't have the right to use, a false or unlawful advert or job, or a message to a resident — your business is responsible for it, and for our reasonable costs of dealing with it.
Ending
You can ask us to remove your claim, or your business listing, at any time through the contact form. We may remove a claim, or hide a business listing, that breaks these terms. If we do, we'll tell you why, and you can ask us to look again. When a claim ends, the business listing stays on What's On Dronfield as an unclaimed business, with its published details and phone number, unless you ask us to take it off.
Changes and the law
We'll tell you at least 30 days before we change these terms in a way that affects you, unless the change is needed sooner for safety or by law. If you don't agree, you can end your claim. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and its courts deal with any dispute.
