Credit Controller/Accounts Assistant

The role

A permanent, full-time Credit Controller / Accounts Assistant post with Smurfit Westrock, advertised through a recruitment firm. The role supports the finance operations of the company's Chesterfield site: credit control, the sales ledger and making sure general ledger transactions are processed accurately and on time. What you'd do

• Chase unpaid invoices while keeping good relationships with customers.
• Investigate and resolve invoice and payment queries.
• Monitor credit limits and payment terms and carry out credit reviews.
• Set up new customer accounts and assess credit risk.
• Follow credit control procedures, including recommending when an account should be stopped.
• Maintain and reconcile the sales and general ledgers, and record and allocate cash receipts.
• Prepare and post journals and produce regular, monthly and ad hoc financial reports.
• Analyse financial data for management reporting and audit.
• Advise the sales and operations teams on how customers pay.
• Manage customers' invoicing portals and sort out rejected invoices.
• Cover colleagues during holidays and sickness, and take on other finance tasks as asked.
