Purchasing Engineer - Manufacturing

The role

A full-time manufacturing and purchasing engineer post in the operations team of a precision manufacturing business in the Dronfield area. It makes bespoke mechanical components and assemblies for clients across the process industries. The advert is placed by a recruitment firm working with the business. It is a hands-on job for someone with a strong mechanical background.

What you'd do

• Manage purchasing from start to finish for raw materials, machining and secondary processing.
• Build and keep good relationships with suppliers, with an eye on quality, reliability and cost.
• Work with production, fabrication and stores to keep stock at the right levels.
• Negotiate costs, lead times and terms while keeping quality high.
• Check that goods and services meet engineering and quality requirements.
• Keep accurate records and follow internal purchasing procedures.
• Help improve the supply chain.

What they're looking for

• Proven manufacturing purchasing experience in a mechanical or precision engineering setting.
• Ability to read technical drawings, bills of materials and engineering specifications.
• Understanding of machining processes, raw materials and fabrication.
• Good communication skills.
